Sunday Arvo AFL Game Brisbane Lions vs Greater Western Sydney Giants

Today James and I Joined Abby's friends and family to see an AFL game at Wooloongabba Stadium.  Although the game wasn't much of a competition (Brisbane Lions decimated the Giants!)  It was still a pretty entertaining game!  Here's a link to the summary of the game.

There was an aboriginal dance before the game began

There was a sack race between the first and second quarter!
The players are amazingly athletic, because they're constantly running around the huge round field and the short shorts helped to show their nice legs off haha!

Everyone got to run out onto the field after the game and have a go at throwing around the ball!

Crazy looking tree in one of the parks on our way home
We were pretty hungry after the game, so we went out for Fish and chips at the restaurant down the street from us!

Tamborine Mountain & Broadbeach

Before I explain the rest of the pictures, I have to mention this first picture!  My mom sent me a package of goodies from home, which I opened while I was Skyping with my mom (a box full art supplies, jewellery and cards) Getting things in the mail never gets old!!!  Let me tell you, I was pretty excited to see the box full of things from home on my doorstep last week!  Thanks Mom & Dad! :)

This past weekend, James and I went on a day trip to Tamborine mountain, which is about an hour south of Brisbane, as well as Broadbeach, which is directly east on the Gold Coast.

The Skywalk bridge on Tamborine Mountain.  It's difficult to convey the height we were at, but it was like walking along the top of the rainforest - cool to see the trees from a different vantage point.
Doesn't that vine look like a snake? Don't worry, it isn't.
Hoop Pine - when you see this tree from the side, the branches come straight out, thus appearing like a hoop

Springbrook National Park and Fingal Heads Part II

Great news!  James and I are the proud owners of a "new to us" car!  We are now able to go on road trips!!!  We're so excited to have a car again after not having one for almost 6 months.  It's amazing how much we are able to appreciate having a car after not having one, and having to rely on public transit and friends to drive us around!

Our first trip together was two weeks ago.  I took James to my favourite spots so far.  Springbrook National Park, which is an hour south of Brisbane.  Even though it was raining, we went for a hike to the bottom of the waterfall, and continued on along a path that ran alongside the river.  Just like Australia is massive, everything along the trail was at a massive scale - the rocks, trees and plants!  After visiting the park, we continued south about an hour to Fingal Head Beach! It's amazing how close in proximity these two vastly different landscapes are!!  :)
